Typical Responsibilities for the Early Career Occupational Health and Safety Professional

• Conducting desktop research including literature searches, and critically evaluating and summarizing scientific information, government regulations, and industrial hygiene assessment reports
• Conducting, designing or assisting with exposure assessments, human health risk assessments and industrial hygiene program evaluations
• Evaluating job histories and work tasks to characterize historical exposure scenarios
• Preparation of technical work products, presentations and proposals
• Performing on-site exposure assessments and audits
• Some travel expected

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• BS, MPH, or MS in Industrial Hygiene, Exposure Science, Safety, or Engineering
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• 2-5 years of occupational/environmental health-related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
• Qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment experience
• Basic quantitative exposure modeling
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
• Determination and evaluation of appropriate control strategies to mitigate risk
• Delivery of health and safety training
• EHS/IH program implementation experience

Additional Qualifications for Preferential Consideration:

• Government or industry EHS experience
• Research experience
• Auditing experience
• Ergonomics experience
• HAZWOPER or OSHA 30-hour training
• Previous contributions to the scientific or trade literature
• Prior consulting experience
