Job Description

Cardno is looking for a highly motivated, career oriented mid-level landscape architect with the desire to grow and become part of a dynamic and creative landscape architecture and master planning team located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design Responsibilities:

> Coordination with other in-house disciplines
> Preparation of plan documents and supporting design calculations
> Preparation of design concepts for public spaces
> Assisting with obtaining necessary data to complete design
> Maintain and organize all project related documentation: original plans, computerized data and files
> Assisting with preparation of Bid documents/specifications
> Assisting with preparation of construction cost estimates/quantity takeoffs
> Assisting with obtaining permit/ jurisdictional approvals
> Assisting with soliciting information from local jurisdictions
> Preparing memos/letters required for the preparation and approval of the design documents
> Assist the project manager with coordination with the project team and the clients

Construction Administration Responsibilities:

> Assisting and conducting construction administration
> Completing inspections/inspection reports for project
> Distributing inspection reports
> Assisting with coordination of design changes with civil engineering, land use planning, survey department, jurisdiction, owner and contractor

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

> The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized and eager to take on responsibility and grow in a collaborative, fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
> This candidate will have 6-8 years of experience in an office setting with site specific design, grading and planting design and can expect to be involved in all aspects of a project
> This may include conceptual design and planning, preparing illustrative graphics and color renderings, the preparation of construction document packages and construction administration
> A Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Landscape Architecture

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

> Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others
> Project communication and mentoring of junior staff
> Proficiency with AutoCAD and Photoshop
> Strong hand graphic ability
> An understanding in construction detailing and construction observations
> Experience with irrigation design a plus but not required
