Job Description

The Restoration Services Division of Cardno is seeking an Operations Manager - Ecological Restoration based in our Brighton, Michigan office.

Cardno's Restoration Services Division provides a broad suite of services in natural resource management, water resource management and permitting/compliance. Our team provides ecological restoration, invasive species control, revegetation, erosion control, wetland construction, maintenance and other land management practices.

The successful candidate will be a motivated leader that is able to balance and complete multiple complex tasks such as crew scheduling, resource procurement, risk/ safety management, and quality control.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Manage native and ecological restoration projects on all levels of size and complexity
> Supervise, train, and mentor field personnel
> Responsible for equipment maintenance and management
> Ability to operate small and larger mechanical equipment
> Responsible for project and shop material procurement
> Responsible for project scheduling and coordination weekly
> Drive efficiencies and best practices through project management and QA/QC
> Lead proposal estimating and proposal submissions
> Lead the development of a prescribed fire program
> Manage clients and assist with business development and growth opportunities
> Contribute to high-level planning for sustained growth and performance
> Drive and maintain a culture of safety in all operations
> Adhere to all corporate policies

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

> Degree or relevant experience in ecological restoration, land management or environmental science
> Minimum 5-year's experience managing complex projects
> Minimum 5-year's experience conducting on-the-ground restoration work
> Minimum 5-year's experience managing and leading crews
> Experience in project management, including client meetings, written correspondence, and budget tracking
> Experience reading construction drawings and specifications
> Experience with project estimation and proposal development through technical writing
> Experience with native and invasive plant identification
> Experience with ecological restoration techniques
> Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
> Ability to travel between offices, approximately 10% of the time
> Must hold a valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications:

> S130/S190/S290 certifications and experience with prescribed burns
> Hazwoper, First Aid, Red Card, or Applicators license
> Experience with Microsoft Project or similar program
> Certification in construction management
> Self-motivated, strong innovator
> Bilingual Spanish capabilities a plus
