Job Description

Cardno, Natural Resources is seeking a Project Accounting Coordinator for our Southwest Project Accounting team. Successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience, with the relevant skills and background that will be required in order to fill the position without extensive training.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Provide budget, contract, and financial management support to Business Operations Team and Project Managers
> Set up and maintains projects per client requirements and company guidelines
> Review client invoices for accuracy, work closely with Project Managers and provide data entry support to finalize billing according to client requirements and deadlines, including data entry in client billing systems as needed
> Track project budgets and work with Project Managers to assure project expenditures are closely monitored
> Create and modify complex budget spreadsheets in Excel, including extensive data manipulation and formatting
> Prepare and process subcontracts and subcontractor task orders
> Review, processing, data entry, and tracking of subcontractor invoices
> Assist in review and processing of client contracts and task/purchase orders
> Accounts Receivable follow up
> Audit unbilled receivables and variance reports for profits optimization
> Analyze vendor invoices and expense reports and confirms contractual compliance for invoicing inclusion
> Other related tasks, as required

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

> Working knowledge and understanding of project accounting principles
> Experience with professional services billing and accounts payable processing
> Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
> Excellent oral and written communication skills, must possess a professional manner and customer service mindset
> Ability to work well independently and with a professional team in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment
> Detail oriented and resourceful, with the ability and aptitude to learn new programs and skills quickly
> Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Office
> High school diploma plus 2-5 years of relevant experience
> Positive and energetic attitude
> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship

Desired Qualifications:

> Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
> Previous project accounting experience, preferably for environmental consulting, planning or engineering
> Experience with professional services contracts, task orders and contract administration
> B.A. in business or accounting
> BST and/or Ariba experience a plus
> Experience in working with and providing support to diverse groups in all levels of management
> Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines
> Self-motivated and confident with strong initiative
> Ability to see the 'big picture' and use common sense to make decisions
> Well-developed interpersonal skills with ability and desire to build trusting, long-term relationships
> Experience working for service companies such as environmental consulting, planning, or engineering
