Job Description

Cardno is looking to expand our Louisiana presence in response to current needs of our clients and to prepare for future client needs. As part of this strategy, we are seeking a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer will work closely with clients, Cardno technical staff, the Cardno client service leadership and key practice teams to execute significant projects and help grow Cardno within Louisiana and elsewhere as our national clients need.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Directing and performing engineering design for a wide variety of environmental projects
> Assuming full management responsibility and accountability for medium-to-large projects or tasks
> Developing project strategy, scope, cost estimates, and technical proposals
> Managing and communicating results, budget, and schedule information to the client, other project managers and appropriate operations management
> Communicating with clients about future work and supporting business development activities
> Acquiring new clients and project opportunities in the government, oil and gas, and power market sectors commensurate with the technical service offerings of Cardno
> Office management, including financial performance and logistics
> Coaching, mentoring, and training staff, to expand the Cardno staff capability in the geographic service center
> Performing analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects
> Understanding, applying, and overseeing safety requirements in the field

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

> Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree desirable in environmental, civil, or coastal engineering
> Louisiana P.E. certification required
> 5+ years of experience is required
> Capable of balancing business development, staff management, and project responsibilities.
> Experience with state and local regulatory agencies is key
> Expertise with restoration planning and design, siting and permitting, impact assessment, and/or other similar expertise
> Ability to effectively manage projects effectively on time and within budget
> Adept with industry-specific software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project)
> Staff management and leadership ability
> Experience with local and federal regulatory agencies
> Ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
> Ability to establish effective internal and external working relationships
> Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
> Must pass 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training and annual refresher course, if required
