Job Description

Cardno is seeking a Restoration Field Technician in our Chicago, IL offices, to implement project work in the ecological consulting and restoration management fields. Projects will involve field labor, technical work, and/or supervision of labor crews. A typical work day consists of an 8-10 hour day although, in accordance with the requirements of specific assignments, may include irregular hours. Position may also require overnight travel

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

> Implementing restoration project work at the ground level under the direction of a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager
> Implementing landscape construction projects at the ground level under the direction of a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager
> Native planting, seeding, erosion control installation, herbicide application, prescribed fire or any other activities necessary with field implementation of ecological restoration projects
> Landscape maintenance activities such as mulching fence installation, hardscape repair, and debris removal
> Technicians will be required to spend up to 1-4 nights per week out of town working at remote locations
> Adhering to corporate policies, operate through the proper management channels, and act in the best interest of firm
> Operating a Global Positioning System - no previous experience required, but any experience a plus




Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

> Experience working on ecological restoration, landscape construction or general construction projects
> Technicians will be required to obtain Commercial Pesticide
> Applicator's License
> Valid Driver's License
> Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or Red Card

Desired Qualifications:

> Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences (Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Biology, Fisheries, Forestry)- or equivalent experience
> Experience operating equipment such as tractors, ATVs, chainsaws, and/ or skidsteers
> Ability to travel overnight for 1-4 days out of worn
> Experience with herbicide handling and application
> Experience in native and invasive species plant identification and/ or restoration techniques
> Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
