Job Description

Cardno is a professional infrastructure and environmental services company, with expertise in the development and improvement of physical and social infrastructure for communities around the world.

Cardno is seeking a Survey Field Technician I in our Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Adjusts and operates surveying instruments
> Compiles information necessary to stake projects for construction, using engineering plans
Compiles information for topographic surveys
> Compiles information for horizontal and vertical controls and processes or reduces notes
> Operates and manages land-information computer systems, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports
> Performs calculations to determine earth curvature corrections, atmospheric impacts on measurements, traverse closures and adjustments, azimuths, level runs, and placement of markers
> Records survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, drawings, sketches, and other survey documents
> Willingness to learn utility designating/location procedures through geophysical techniques.
> Willingness to learn how to assist/operate vacuum truck operations to perform test holes.
> Travel up to 75% of time, depending on project locations.
> Outdoor work in all climates.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

> Knowledge of the practical application of surveying and mapping. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various types of surveys
> Proficient in survey related mathematical computations, 4 year surveying degree or acceptable combination of education and experience
> Clear vision (at 20 inches or less), with or without corrective lenses. Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
> Must be able to design plans, using pen/paper/mouse
> Must be able to read maps and transcribe technical information from them into design
> Must be able to visit and assess work sites
