Job Description

Cardno is looking for a National Senior Leader in the United States to drive growth and expand our services and footprint in the power sector. The position consists of a client-facing role that will be responsible for the development of significant new work, and will work closely with the Cardno Business Development, Operations, and Practice leadership to achieve this goal.

The successful candidate will have strong connections and recognized experience in the power industry in the United States and will have the ability to develop new work, to make successful handoffs to project teams, and to sponsor individual projects while managing programs and portfolios of work. Experience in managing and providing environmental consulting services to project managers in support of project siting, project permitting impact assessment, impact mitigation, environmental compliance, and remediation, is essential. In addition, a technical understanding of the execution of key services is required. The ideal candidate would possess strong business development and program management skills and have a deep understanding of client needs and key services in the power sector.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

> Identification and procurement of contract opportunities in the power sector commensurate with the technical service offerings of Cardno
> Development and execution of a growth strategy for Cardno within the power sector in the eastern U.S.
> Participation in regional and national business development activities within the power sector
> Track and provide advice to Cardno Management Team regarding market trends and opportunities
> Support project pursuits and oversee project execution
> Coordinate teaming and subcontracting discussion/agreements to help grow the sales and sector practices
> Develop and manage key client relationships in the western U.S.
> Sponsor key projects that significantly enhance the firm’s standing in the power sector
> Coach, mentor, train, and identify candidates to serve as project managers to ensure the successful completion of the work

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

> Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or a closely related field from an accedited university; Master's degree preferred
> 10+ years of experience working with regulators in the U.S.
> Minimum 15 years’ experience providing or managing technical services to the power sector
> Minimum 10 years’ experience in the consulting industry, including business development and/or client management experience
> Experience with multiple facility types such as hydroelectric, coal, gas, solar, wind, nuclear, and transmission
> Demonstrated experience developing a team and/or growing a practice or client sector
> Previous major project and proposal assignments or project manager for major facility development and upgrade projects including budget and schedule creation, management, and control
> Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing project managers and project teams in a highly dynamic project environment
> Demonstrated experience in managing major key clients and key client accounts and directing key client penetration strategies, opportunity tracking and development
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
> Must be able and willing to travel to other Cardno and client locations within the U.S.
