Job Description

Cardno intends to expand our Houston presence in response to current needs of our clients and to proactively prepare for future client needs. As part of this strategy Cardno seeks a Senior Consultant with strong experience managing an office, staff, and environmental permitting projects within the region. The ideal candidate would be capable of balancing business development, staff management, and project responsibilities. While experience within the oil and gas sector is key, additional experience in other industry sectors such as power and government is preferred. The candidate also should possess strong communications and organization skills along with discipline to manage projects effectively on time and within budget. The candidate needs strong regulatory experience associated with facility siting and permitting. The position will work closely with clients, Cardno technical staff, the Cardno client service leadership and key practice teams to execute significant projects and help grow Cardno within the Houston area and elsewhere as our national Houston-based clients need.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

> Acquiring new clients and project opportunities in the oil and gas and energy market sectors commensurate with the technical service offerings of Cardno
> Office management, including financial performance and logistics
> Coaching, mentoring, and training staff, and recruiting candidates to expand the Cardno staff capability in the geographic service center
> Managing environmental permitting projects of various sizes
> Developing and supporting proposals of various sizes
> Communicating with clients about future work and supporting business development activities
> Participating in key client management and growth
> Coordinating teaming and subcontracting discussion/agreements for specific project opportunities and to help grow the sales and sector practice

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

> Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in environmental science, biological resources, or a closely related field
> Demonstrated capability to make and maintain client relationships and participate in account management activities
> Demonstrated capability to manage staff and office logistics
> Minimum 10 years’ experience providing or managing technical services to the oil and gas industry, preferably in the south-central US
> Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the environmental consulting industry
> Demonstrated experience managing complex environmental permitting projects
> Demonstrated experience managing proposal assignments for major proposal and project efforts ($500k and above) including building and directing project teams, scopes, budgets, and schedules over the full range of project scale and complexity
> Proficiency in understanding and managing office level financial performance
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
> Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, experience with project management software preferred
> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship
